Vanessa Pilon is an iconic young Quebecer. This open-minded, engaged and fabulous young woman, started her career in 2012 on TVA’s popular morning show, Salut Bonjour !. Passionate by travel, she becomes the host of the Soleil tout inclus show on Evasion TV and part of the nutty Vrak Attack team of the famous TV channel. Recently, she flew to Stockholm to co-create with DOYLE a new line of eyeglasses and sunglasses. This is how Vanessa becomes the ambassador and editor of the brand’s own label: Atelier78 and its newest Stockholm inspired edition. The final result? 36 new beautifully designed frames inspired by the pure and minimalistic style that defines the Swedish capital. Vanessa explains us her creative journey.
What was the role of your trip to Stockholm in the creation of this collection ?
Before starting the creative process, I spent 3 days exploring the city, getting in touch with its vibe, observing colours and textures. I followed my instinct and photographed almost everything that attracted my attention. This resulted into a mood board. Then, I worked very closely with Swedish designers who shared with me their vision and know-how.
What was your favourite part of the creative process?
I really appreciated co-creating and sharing ideas with the other members of the team. Inspired by design thinking methods, the process places a multi disciplinary team at the heart of the project. I truly loved it! I also enjoyed the photo-shoot, organized together with a local crew. It was a very multicultural day. At first, I felt a bit intimidated, it was a big set, but everyone was highly talented, grounded and extremely nice.
What is your favourite piece from the collection?
I have a crush for Franzen: I love the pink-peach-salmon colour. It goes very well with any hair colour and any skin type. It’s colourful, edgy and easy-to-wear. I also love the little detail of white metal you can find on the stems. It’s a nice touch inspired by the Scandinavian interior design.
The Atelier 78 – the Stockholm edition is available at Doyle. For every Atelier 78 frame sold, $10 are given to the Charles-Bruneau Heart Centre Foundation.
