After Miami Beach, hello Windy city! The new Freehand opened its doors in May 2015 and it’s located in the exciting and hype neighbourhood of Chicago: River North.
The owners stayed faithful to the Miami concept: located in a 1927 building, the Freehand is dedicated to a new generation of travelers, in love with beautiful, ecofriendly design, looking for authentic connections and fun. At affordable prices, the hostel has different shared accommodations and private rooms, with a minimal, masculine design. We were lodged in a private room for four. Inside, even if we haven’t been “wow”-ed by the pretty functional amenities, we had to give a special mention to the beautifully designed bathroom. Our tip: when you book, ask for a room with city view! You will not regret it. But to be honest, if you want to fully get the Freehand experience you have to go out and enjoy the hostel amenities!
Where to start? You may start your morning at the amazing Café Intégral with a delicious creamy latté and yummy breakfasts. Yes, they also have a great brunch menu. After a great day in Chicago, continue the evening at The Broken Shaker, a very beautiful bohemian chic venue. That’s the place where you meet the hype, creative crowd of Chicago as well as travelers from around the world. You will get an authentic spirit of the city and the Freehand happy vibes. It’s a great location to start exploring the other Chicago’s hidden gems.
