After exploring the beautiful Isla Bastimentos, we headed to Isla Colon the final episode of our Panamanian trip. It was the perfect occasion to settle down at Tesoro Escondito, an eco-friendly hidden gem, dedicated to surf and nature lovers. Away from the touristic attractions of Bocas – around 15-minute drive from the city – this rustic, laid back place is nestled in the jungle and offers spectacular panoramic ocean views. Take a deep breath, you are about to immerse into nature.
We enjoyed the two floor facility that gives you the impression of a big tree-house. We also loved to relax in one of the hammocks with a good book or happily sharing the community-friendly dinners with other travelers and house guests, charmed by the surrounding silence, rhythmed by the sound of waves and tropical birds. If you are all about surf, join the most experienced surfers at Playa Bluff, an endless, white, untouched sandbank washed by big round-shaped waves, at 20-minute walk from the eco-lodge.
If you don’t surf, don’t worry you can still enjoy observing courageous surfers braving the waves. It’s a spectacular and unforgettable moment. If you are looking for calm waters, you can head towards the North end of the island. The beach is located around 2 hour walk from Bluff Beach so don’t forget your bottle of water and sunscreen. Don’t miss it! Locals strongly recommend it for its authentic and untouched scenery.
